Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Mike Carey is pleased to announce that submissions for this year’s Congressional Art Competition are open to all high school students in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District from now until May 1, 2024.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have participated in the nationwide competition.

In May, an award ceremony will be held within the district where winners will be announced. The first place winner from our district will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. This exhibit in Washington D.C. will be comprised of all of the 1st place winners from each Congressional District across the country. The 2nd place, 3rd place and People’s Choice winners will hang in our Columbus District Office as part of our gallery throughout 2024.

A reception for the first place winner will take place in Washington D.C. with assistance being provided to help the winning student and a family member travel to the opening of the exhibition and the unveiling of their work of art. In past years, 1st place winners also have qualified to submit competitive scholarship applications for several art schools around the country.
