Strengthening America's Workforce

Made in America isn’t just a slogan: it’s recipe for a stronger, more prosperous future.

The first step? Investing in good-paying jobs here at home, in fields ranging from manufacturing to tech to energy production.

We’ve been pleased to welcome great employers to Ohio’s Fifteenth District, like Honda’s $3.5 billion battery plant in Fayette County that created an estimated 2,200 new jobs. Our district has also received $2.3 billion investment from Google in the form of three new data centers in Columbus, Lancaster and New Albany.

Investing in America should be good for business. That’s why we’ve supported legislation to prevent U.S. trade policy from favoring foreign e-commerce. In our work with the Ways and Means Committee, we also passed the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This will restore crucial research and development expensing so that American businesses can invest in their next big idea.

We’re also working to build the next generation of America’s workforce. We supported the bipartisan Leveraging and Energizing America’s Apprenticeship Programs Act to give tax incentives to businesses who hire apprentices. This legislation will develop the careers of skilled workers in industries from construction to healthcare to manufacturing.

Workers should feel that they have a voice in Washington. We have been active on efforts to protect workers, like the Coordination of Medicare Payments and Workers’ Compensation Act, or the COMP ACT, which aims to protect injured workers whose compensation claims overlap with Medicare coverage.
