PHOTOS: Carey Visits Columbus Crisis Care Center, Historic Chaney Mill

FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO – Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15) made two stops in Franklin County centered around health care and historic preservation.

First, Rep. Carey joined members of the Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Board (ADAMH) of Franklin County in Columbus, Ohio, to tour the Franklin County Crisis Care Center. This center will aim to help those dealing with substance use disorder (SUD) in Franklin County and offer them a road to recovery.

Last week, Rep. Carey voted to pass the HALT Fentanyl Act, bipartisan legislation that would make the temporary class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances (FRS) permanent and provide law enforcement with more tools to keep fentanyl and FRS out of American neighborhoods.

“Thank you to the ADAMH of Franklin County for hosting me at their crisis care center. Far too many Ohioans and their loved ones have been affected by the opioid epidemic, and this facility will help those struggling find a road to sustainable recovery,” Rep. Carey said. “In Congress, I am working on a bipartisan basis with my colleagues to deliver resources back to our communities that will help keep dangerous drugs like fentanyl away from families and assist patients who need help now.”

Later, Rep. Carey traveled to Canal Winchester, Ohio, to tour the O.P. Cheney Grain Elevator, which is currently being renovated and preserved for its historical significance to the region. Rep. Carey has been a longtime supporter of historic preservation and the need to support historic sites across the country.

“It was so exciting to see the ongoing preservation effort at the Chaney Mill. As a proud supporter of historic preservation, especially in our tax code through my role on the House Ways and Means Committee, I was thrilled to see that we are preserving a piece of our historic grain industry for years to come,” Rep. Carey said.
