WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15) secured a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to upgrade equipment at the Fayette County Airport. This grant, which was appropriated through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Airport Improvement Grant (AIG) program, will help construct a state-of-the-art Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the airport.
“In order to set up Ohio’s economy for growth in the next century, we need to ensure our infrastructure is modernized. I was proud to play a role in securing this grant to upgrade weather observing equipment at the Fayette County Airport,” Rep. Carey said. “This new system will help our rural airports modernize and provide greater safety for pilots and passengers alike.”

- $438,933 to the Fayette County Commissioners (Washington Court House, Ohio) to replace the existing automated weather observing system Type AWOS III P/T that has reached the end of its useful life. This grant funds the final phase, which consists of construction.
