WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15), a member of the House Budget Committee, House Ways and Means Committee, and Committee on House Administration, voted to pass a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the government open and prevent a shutdown while bipartisan government funding negotiations advance.
Following the vote, Rep. Carey released the following statement:
“Shutting down the government means missed paychecks for our troops, delays in critical services, and disrupts the work Congress is doing to deliver for constituents. We are looking at passing a full, bipartisan government funding deal in the coming weeks, but we cannot shut down the government in the meantime,” Rep. Carey said.
The CR now goes to the U.S. Senate for consideration and must clear a 60-vote threshold before being signed into law by the President.
