Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Carey (R-OH) announced his office had successfully secured $1 million for a new state-of-the-art workforce development hub in downtown Columbus, Ohio.
“Columbus is one of the fastest growing cities in America,” said Congressman Carey. “For new businesses to continue locating to Columbus, we need a trained and ready workforce. Projects like this will go a long way to making that a reality.”
The grant will be dispersed to the Godman Guild Association, a central Ohio organization working to lift people out of poverty by providing job and skill training. The new workforce development hub will increase the Guild’s capacity to provide greater job training, career support, and academic services to teens and adults.
“This new center of excellence will equip the Guild, and our partners, with what we need to transform our workforce system and create pathways from kindergarten to career,” said Toni M. Cunningham, the president and CEO of the Godman Guild Association. “A special thank you goes out to Representative Mike Carey and his team for advocating for the Godman Guild Association through the appropriations process. Thank you for your support as we see the new hub come to life and we partner to deliver on the workforce development needs of our region to create a socially and economically empowered community.”
The grant, which is subject to the successful passage of an appropriations measure, is part of a larger $26.7 million grants package secured by Congressman Carey for the people of Ohio’s 15th district.
