Rep. Carey secures $5 million for new police facility in London, Ohio

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Carey (R-OH) announced his office had successfully secured $6 million in grants for Madison County, Ohio through the appropriations process.

“I’m proud to represent Madison County within the U.S. House of Representatives,” said Congressman Carey. “These investments will support projects vital to making Madison County an even better place to work, live, and raise a family.”

Of the sum, $5 million will go to the London Police Department for a new law enforcement facility.

“We are very excited to hear of the award for the public safety facility and very much appreciate Rep. Carey and his staff’s work in procuring the funding,” said London Police Division Greg Nicol. “There are many intangibles that are greatly impacted with this type of investment in the agency, such as recruitment and retention, the safety of members and the public, as well as increased efficiency in operations to name just a few.”

London Mayor Patrick Closser said the grant would help update the city’s infrastructure to account for population growth over the past decade.

“On behalf of the city of London I would like to thank the United States Congress and especially Representative Mike Carey for their continued support of the city of London, Ohio,” said Mayor Closser. “As we navigate through the growth of our fine city, infrastructure needs are a priority and it is great to know that we have tremendous support from Rep. Carey.”

A further $ 1 million is slated for the Madison County Lafayette Waterline extension project. Madison County Commissioners are applauding Congressman Carey for working to secure the grant.

“Madison County is primed for growth with critical infrastructure investments such as these,” said Madison County Commissioner Chris Wallace. “With growth comes amenities, higher paying wages, and in all a higher quality of life for our residents.”

The money, which is subject to the successful passage of an appropriations measure, is part of a larger $26.7 million grants package secured by Congressman Carey for the people of Ohio’s 15th district.
