In Case You Missed It: Carey Nominates 12 Ohioans to Attend U.S. Service Academies

Feb 20, 2026 | Press Releases

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Last Friday, February 13, U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15) hosted an event to celebrate the 12 Ohioans from the 15th Congressional District that Rep. Carey nominated to attend the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

In order to attend any of these prestigious academies, applicants must go through a rigorous application process, including a review board, and receive a nomination from their congressman or senator.

“These Ohioans have demonstrated a great deal of patriotism, bravery, and desire to serve in applying to our service academies. As a veteran, I am incredibly proud to nominate them to attend our nation’s most elite academic military institutions,” Rep. Carey said. “I believe that this group is destined for great futures, and I thank them for devoting themselves to such a noble cause at such a young age.”
