COLUMBUS, OHIO – Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, joined Ohio business leaders at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce for a roundtable discussion to identify economic growth potential in Columbus and across Ohio.
During the meeting, Rep. Carey emphasized his vote to prevent a government shutdown and how many of the provisions in the Republican working family tax cuts package will help increase investment, create new jobs, and boost wages for workers and their families.
“Thanks to the working family tax cuts package that we passed into law this summer, we prevented the largest tax increase on families in American history and created countless new economic opportunities in Ohio. Unfortunately, the current government shutdown is prohibiting federal workers like our troops and Air Traffic Controllers from getting paid and reaping the benefits of these tax cuts. I hope that my Democrat colleagues in the Senate act soon to reopen the government so that our economy can continue to grow and our great service members can receive their paychecks,” Rep. Carey said.
“We appreciate Rep. Carey’s continued leadership on pro-growth tax policy and his commitment to ensuring Ohio businesses remain competitive in a global economy,” Steve Stivers, President and CEO of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, said. “A stable tax environment allows employers to invest, hire and expand, strengthening communities across our state. We’re proud to partner with the U.S. Chamber to advance reforms that drive economic opportunity for all Ohioans.”
“Representative Mike Carey continues to be a strong advocate for Ohio’s business community by championing key tax provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” Rodney Davis, Head of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said. “Smart tax policy helps local employers grow, invest in their workforce, and drive innovation. We’re grateful for Congressman Carey’s leadership in advancing economic opportunity for Ohioans and Americans nationwide.”
