WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, voted to advance the Republican reconciliation tax provisions out of the House Ways and Means Committee after a markup that lasted more than 17 hours through the night.
The package advanced 26-19, with all Republican members voting in favor. It now goes to the full House of Representatives for a vote as part of a larger budget reconciliation bill.
Following the vote, Rep. Carey released the below statement:
“For the last two years, I have traveled across our district, our state, and our whole nation with my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee to hear concerns from everyday Americans who would face a massive tax increase if the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expires at the end of this year. Our vote today marks a major step forward in preventing the largest tax increase in American history. Not only that, we advanced new tax cut provisions that provide generational relief to middle class workers, families, farmers, small business owners, and seniors. I look forward to getting this bill passed and signed into law by President Trump.”
