Congressman Mike Carey Applauds Historic Intel Investment, Reiterates Call for Congressional Action
Columbus, OH – Congressman Mike Carey today released the following statement on the announcement that Intel will make a historic $20 billion investment in Ohio to build two semiconductor manufacturing factories:
“This is a monumental day for the state of Ohio as we welcome Intel to the Columbus region and bring semiconductor manufacturing back to America,” Congressman Mike Carey said. “As we celebrate this historic victory and the hard work of so many, including JobsOhio and the DeWine Administration, our work is not done. Congress must keep this momentum going by fully funding the CHIPS for America Act to help fully develop this and future semiconductor manufacturing projects across the country. Supply chain shortages have shone a light on the critical need for America to increase production of the semiconductors that power everything from advanced military equipment, cell phones, farm equipment, and a host of next generation products needed to grow our economy. We can no longer afford to rely on foreign countries to produce this technology – now is the time to act.”
